Podcasts and Audio

With my mp3 I am first going to download an audiobook, since I have never done this to a device. Then I am going to use it to download music and maybe let my husband use it every once in a while since he is a technology enthusiast.
Before I finish I would like to thank all of those who made this course possible for all of us who took it. It was a really big help!

Digital Music

Week 9 was a little harder to comprehend. I was a little confused about what DRM really is all about. But, from what I understood, I do agree with artists protecting their music; even though someone will always find a way to break thru and illegally copy music, videos, etc. On the other hand if you as a user or member of let's say itunes, pay for a download you should not be able to manipulate or change the file; but to play it on any device you may own.

Sharing Information

I have been working with a partner since the beginning of this course and it has gone better than I thought, when we have both gotten stuck on certain parts of the course we brainstorm and have figured it out together. I think it is much easier if you work in a group or with someone else. I have also had to help out some of my co-workers with their blogs and activities. So at the same time I am learning and passing along what I have learned. On line learning is great if you don't have the time to pick up a book and read on the information (which most of us don't). I also think that is a great way to see what is out there, what's new and what everybody is into at the moment.
I set up a flickr account and would like for you all to check it out if you can, I have some pictures of the southeast branch. I tagged it with 101 central. Enjoy!

Fun Stuff

This week really was fun! I enjoyed going through the different websites this week. I knew there were websites for people with the same interests to meet, but I had never actually paid attention or looked at one. My favorite sites were the Trainco and puzzle player sites. I could spend hours on the puzzle player site and not even notice the time go by. I also signed up for the Trainco site, just to see what it was all about. Pretty cool! You can keep track of what you eat and the activities you do; how much exercise you do and how many calories you take in and lose everyday. You can have motivators and talk to other people who are also wanting to get healthier or lose a few pounds. I also spent some time on the blufr site and answered some of the trivia; I got 2 out of 8 wrong before I stopped! I will definitely pass these sites on to others who are interested!

Library Thing

My favorite library technology is of course the internet and all the resources, databases and links we can use to get information through the library website and beyond to other websites.
All of the web 2.0 mashups that I looked at seemed to be very helpful, depending on the type of information you need to look up. They were pretty easy to browse thru and look at. My favorite one was Wikimapia. I wasn't even aware that these types of websites were available and if I did, I didn't pay much attention to them; because they can sometimes be confusing if you don't know exactly what the website is for.

Web 2.0

This week was almost completely different from the previous weeks. I really like going on youtube and watching some of their videos, I actually used youtube as a resource for one of my internet computer classes! And everyone seemed to really like it. I was really surprised to find ocls on my space and even more surprised to find so many ocls videos on youtube. It was fun watching some of the videos on youtube, except for the web 2.0 video with the ninja, I didn't understand it and will probably have to go back and watch it a few more times to get it. I only hope to keep learning new things with this course and I can't wait to do podcasting; I am very interested in learning more about that. I have heard so many things and have even seen a little bit of it, but I don't fully understand it (I missed the training part of that the other day at a meeting!).

Just some thoughts!

In going over the different learning styles, I realized that I am a little bit of everything! But if I had to choose just one it would be that I am mostly a tactile learner. I have learned to adapt to all kinds of learning styles because of school and church. The RSS Feeds activity was a little confusing to me, but I finally got it (though not my favorite thing). I added some shopping feeds and Techno Teens live from OCLS.
As for the learning 2.0 course, I think it is working to my advantage. I have learned so much in such little time. I am more confident now than I was before I started this course. I am thankful to all of you who took the time to put this course together for those of us who didn't know, or were too busy to learn on our own.
Thank you!

For Adrian: You bring joy to my life, I love you!

First Time Mommy!

It's a boy!
He was born on February 3, 2007 and his name is Adrian. He's so cute and he has a lot of hair! He looks a lot like his dad, some say it's like a "mini-me" of my husband.
I am not only a first time mom, but this is also my first time blogging. It's pretty cool! I hope to keep up with this blog as time allows it!
